Ajax Florida Wins National Awards For Quality In Asphalt Paving

Ajax Florida Wins National Awards For Quality In Asphalt PavingThe National Asphalt Pavement Association (NAPA) announced on January 25, 2012, that Ajax Paving Industries of Florida, LLC won four 2011 Quality in Construction Awards for excellence in construction of asphalt pavements.

The following Ajax projects won the awards

Alternate US 19 (SR 595) from Monroe Street to Curlew Road in Pinellas County – The project included the milling and overlay of 2.4 miles of the road. The company did some work at night and some during the daytime and also used a non-vibratory roller to minimize disruptions to residents along the roadway. Ajax used a material transfer device to help produce a consistent, smooth asphalt pavement.

SR 64 from Morgan Grice Road to Highland County Road won the award for mill and overlay. The company used superpave asphalt mixes for the project and completed it within time and budget constraints. It earned an average pay factor of 104 percent for its work, and achieved an excellent ride ability number for the completed roadway.

SR 25 (US 27) in Hendry County – The project included the milling and paving of travel lanes, turn lanes, and crossovers, new turnout construction and widening. It was paved in conjunction with another company project, requiring careful coordination and scheduling on both jobs. Despite the challenging aspects of the job, Ajax completed the project on time, producing a high-quality asphalt pavement with excellent ride ability ratings.

SR 25 in Glades County – The project included the milling and paving of the travel lanes, turn lanes and crossovers, new turnout construction and widening. The company carefully scheduled the project to coordinate with an adjacent project it was also constructing on the road. It produced a smooth, high-quality pavement on schedule with an excellent ride quality.

The Quality in Construction Award recognizes asphalt pavements of excellence. “NAPA selects the recipients of its paving awards using a known set of standards that have been shown to give a good result,” commented Kim Snyder, 2011 Chairman of the NAPA Board of Directors. “This award demonstrates the high quality of work that Ajax Paving Industries of Florida is achieving.”
